      Cut Pile Carpet?

I like the more modern look of cut pile carpet, but where can I get it in molded form with the heel pad and dimmer switch for a '67 Firebird/Camaro? I also need door bottoms and fold down seat back pieces.

Auto Custom Carpets can get yo everything you need.

There is a thread a ways back with the web link but a simple search will get you there.

What does cut pile carpet look like? I wanted something more modern for mine, maybe that is what I am looking for.

      More modern look?

Cut pile is the same stuff used today in cars and looks so much better than loop which was used in all of the 60's cars. Loop will wear for ever but cut pile just looks soooo much better.

Auto Custom Carpets is a great place to work with for factory or custom stuff. I picked up the carpet for my car at a swap meet by paying for it and having it shipped to me. I got enough for both the front and back, 5 yards for $60 plus shipping and I can make it fit the way I want to. They even intructed me on how to make it fit and manipulate it a bit to make it work better.

I would go w/ Auto Custom Carpets all the way. I use them exclusively at work and their fit is excellent. They do not come w/ the dimmer grommet installed in the carpet, but they do supply the grommet w/ the carpet. Just cut a hole where the switch is and install the grommet. Just be sure mark and cut the jute where the seat belts and seat bolts go through. I usually cut a hole in the jute that is at least a half inch bigger all the way around than the bolt hole it's self. Other wise the jute will just knot up around the bolt, when you try to install them.

Good luck, if you have any ?'s just ask. I have done many first gen carpets.

I put cut pile in my '68 Camaro a year ago. It is nice stuff. I got it from Auto Custom Carpets. Not too expensive... they also sent me some free color samples so I could pick which shade of grey I wanted.

Thanks a bunch guys. I had looked at ACC's website and they don't list cut pile for first gens so I assumed they didn't offer it. I'll give them a call tomorrow and will watch those bolt holes!

I called ACC today. They can make the preformed carpet and anything else available in loop from cut pile material. It's special order and non-refundable but there is no extra charge over loop.
