      4L60E shifting problems.

      Hey ya'll,

I just rebuilt the 4L60E in a friends '96 Chevy K1500. He was having a problem with it not shifting out of 2nd gear. We found the forward clutch pack burnt up. I did a complete rebuild and replaced all of the upshift and downshift solenoids. He got it reinstalled today, and it still won't shift out of second. He said it shifts fine from 1-2 but will not go into 3rd. I'm going tomorrow sometime to read the codes, but do any of you have any thoughts?

      Thanks ya'll

      Shane

      Paul67,

I didn't receive the PM, but I went by his house today, and drove the truck. It tries to shift into 3rd, but when it does it feels like you put it in neutral. You can rev it up, and it won't go. Any ideas?

      thanks again,
      Shane

No, I don't have a fax available. I think I will go tomorrow and pull the valve body. I didn't see any cracks before, but we have to be losing pressure somewhere.

      Thanks again,:icon996:

Paul, I got it that time. It may be friday before I get back to look at it again. We both have to work late the rest of the week. Thanks again for the troubleshooting info.
