wheel question.. new and probably dumb

Going to be starting to look at wheels soon for my 1966 chevelle. I will be putting 18x10 wheels on the rear of the car. I have read that the 18x10 wheels with a backspace of 5.5" works perfect with my model year. So my question is this, I had a rear end built for my car that was shortened by an inch on both sides so I would need a backspace of 4.5" for my rear set of wheels correct?

In theory that sounds correct. I would still make sure to measure and not just go by something read. Not do doubt or say that postings aren’t correct always good to check on your own. My 2 cents.

You can download our wheel measurement guide at http://bit.ly/2wOFXJx That should help. Better to be safe and know for sure then to guess.
