      Ignition switch removal?

Having a problem removing the ignition switch from the dash of my 68 Firebird. I have unscrewed the bezel as far as I can and it now appears that it is hanging up on the key section of the switch. Is there a way to get the keyed section out? I noticed a small hole in the front, do you have to push something in there to release it. Any help appreciated.

Try putting the switch in the acc position and installing a paper clip into the hole and pushing. If that doesn't work try the switch in the on. I'm pretty sure its the acc position though.

It's been a while, but the above post is correct. I believe it goes:
      1) Put the key in the ign. switch
      2) Turn it counter clockwise while sticking paper clip in
      3) It should come right out when the key reaches Acc. position. If not, you'll have to wiggle it a little, but I'm sure it just popped right out.

Got it! This what worked for me, turned to accessory and used straightened paper clip and depressed button inside switch and jiggled switch until locked pulled out.

      Thanks guys,
