      Help, Paint trouble.

Hey , I have one. My paint job on my show car is very expensive , it started to blister or bubble. They pulled the paint off by hand with a razor blade. That was a year ago , its doing it again, any ideas.

Adhesion problems can be caused by a lot of different issues. You might want to get the rep for the kind of paint they used to have a look at it. My guess (and that's all it is, a guess) is either some sort of contaminate was on the car prior to the layer that is lifting, or the shop allowed the layer below the layer that is lifting to dry too long.

Pictures would really help, and a description of where the bubbles are.

I am right now fixing a friends 39 Chevy coupe that has bubbles all along the body reveals. They show up when the car gets hot out in the sun. In the shade they disappear for the most part. Was able to take a razor blade and pop them open. No rust or anything. It was solvent entrapment in the valley that caused it. That and a lack of proper prep. People tend to do a good job sanding the main area, but get lazy on edges and in the reveals.

Would like more details on what you are dealing with.

Sounds like "solvent popping". Either way, sounds like a complete repaint.

There's no good or quick solution unfortunately, no matter how it looks. If the paint is coming off, all that paint needs to be stripped off. Whether it was improper primer sanding, or a chemical issue, no difference... it's all got to come off.
