      Poly Body Mounts?

I have my '79 Cabalero tore down right now and I'm thinking now would be a good time to replace those old body mounts. They are in bad shape judging by what came out of the front when I removed the core support. I am considering a set of aftermarket body mounts but I'm not sure if it would cause the ride comfort to change too much. Do you get a lot of vibration from these or squeaks? Has anyone done this mod? Any recommendations?

there is no movement at the body bushings to speak of, or at least there should not be!? so there wount be any squeaks and yo will not get any more harshness maybe a bit more vibes but nothing to worry about even solid bushings are fine, you can look at it this way unibody cars have their "frames" welded to the body, less flex= less vibrations and noise.

Good point about unibody cars. I think I will go ahead and make the swap. I'm hoping that you can lower the body by 1/2" like the ones for the f-bodies.

I have replaced the body mount bushings with poly in 70-72 Chevelles and it made the car much tighter with less rattle and smoother in my opinion that before the change.

Some cars such as a 91-96 Caprice/Impala/Impals SS only have top body cushions and no lower cushions on the 1-4 body mount position. GM only installed the lower cushions on the police cars. Installation of the lower body cushions makes a HUGE difference. I cannot comment on the G body cars missing any body cushions as I have not researched G bodies of looked specifically at any of my G body cars. Check a Buick Turbo site for this information. I do know that there are some trunk braces for Turbo cars that help a bunch. There are also some front braces to triangulate the front end that are only installed on Pontiac Grand Prix's. This is also a cheap junkyard upgrade. My 86 2+2 Grand Prix has braces that are not on my 86 Monte SS.

Check with the Buick guys as they know LOTS about what is good for stiffening the chassis. Also talk with Marcus at Savitske Rod and Custom as he is very knowledgable and helpful with G bodies. He frequents this site.
