      Megasquirt

I've seen some talk on the Megasquirt systems, does anybody have any experience with them? I have a Pro Flo 1 I was thinking of using on a mild sbc and even spoke with them on pricing and was surpprised at the price but decided to go with a new Holley.

How come you're asking if you already went with Holley?

The main thing that Megasquirt is, is a computer and tuning platform for whatever you're trying to run. It can handle various types of engines. I'm using a Megasquirt carb-to-efi kit to control a BBC TBI and 7-wire HEI (computer control distributor) on my Pontiac 400. It's still in project mode but I'm getting there slowly.

That's why I went with the Holley, 'plug and play'. Megasquirt seemed more complicated then what I'm capable of, not to say I can't figure it out but I'm not quite ready to tackle that just yet. I would like to know how they work from somebody that has used them. also would like to know if the Pro Flo 1 would be worth using

Megasquirt systems are all offered assembled so they can be somewhat simple. Once everything is in front of you it becomes a lot easier. Most efi systems are fairly simple on our old cars. All you technically need is IAT, Water, TPS and 02 sensor to control the engine. Anything additional is pretty much extra stuff.

Here's a carb-to-efi kit from diyautotune (Megasquirt). It can control TBI, MPFI and some additional things like an electric fan, nitrous or boost control. MS2 can even be upgraded to MS3 for controlling sequential injection like on an LS. If you're crafty you can add an additional Input/Outputs to the MS2.

I'm pretty much following the Megasquirt Nova build on my car. It's a fun read if you have the time...

Basic breakdown of Megasquirt line of computers...
      MS1 controls fuel only.
MS2 controls batch fuel and timing.
MS3 controls sequential fuel and coil-on-plug ignition.
MS3-Pro....your badass and can control things like multiple stages of nitrous, traction control, etc.
