Forums are all slower than the good ole days. Lazy ass people use FB now because its easier to ask the same question in four different groups in 30 seconds. A question that has probably been answered ten times this week. And the quality of the answer is typically much lower. And god forbid you disagree, the civility is often much lower.

Did you know you can tell the difference between a 70 and a 70 1/2 camaro based on the nose? I learned that on facebook. Lol

This actually counts as social media.

I think eventually people will trickle back to forums. Facebook is HORRIBLE. Sure, you can get up-to-the minute cat pictures, but there is no tech, and when it happens, you can't search it.

I visited this site about 10 times a day. Hell it's nice outside and I'm driving my car.

That's definitely a big problem with FB. I much prefer forums like this, for that very reason.

I think there's also another factor many have not considered. Many forums are now 15+ years old and many questions, answers, and discussions have been archived. So when a question gets answered with a quick use of the search function there's no need to start a thread to post a question. So the longer the forums are in operation the more answers to questions can be found using the search and fewer and fewer threads are started to ask questions.

EXACTLY! There is no tread structure on FB and once the post scrolls off the screen it is virtually impossible to find.

I agree to a extent. With the onset of new products being developed and people always wanting to try something different that hasn't been tried before I think there will always be a place for forums like this one. I mean, five years ago was swapping a late model Camaro dash into a Gen 1 Camaro a common thing? FB, I don't even go there.

Yes , the forums are for info.
The social media websites are for ....."socializing".
I know on my part, two houses to take care of has cut down on my time of the forum..

Of course there will always be new threads based on new components, new ideas, etc. I was referring more to commonly asked questions like "whats the biggest tire I can fit in the front/rear of model X?". Those questions don't pop up daily like they did 10 years ago.

Did the forums peak out in popularity when USCA was still approachable by more average car builds (and perhaps more reasonable prices)? Events and discussions of them make for a community that people come back to. Do something with your hotrod!

Amen. I feel the same way. I got the optima bug this year, did my first event... Now prepping for next year. Gonna take my backyard build as far as I can with Pure Pontiac Power.

Meta discussion about a dead thread seems to be getting plenty of traffic :-P

Lets do something productive. ;-) Will someone pipe in on my Accusump threads... please :-)

FB is terrible because there is no selection bias or barrier to entry. Interested parties seek out forums and have to set up new logins, etc etc; on FB every bum out there just starts posting jibberish he heard down at autozone. You can very clearly, simply answer a question and the very next post will be 5 clowns posting unrelated nonsense. I hate it. With that said, I've condensed my forum browsing to this site and ls1tech with some chevelles.com and a tad bit of lateral-g thrown in every now and then.

I've updated my Camaro Build on most sites, but it is time consuming and I didn't keep all the pictures in a private file. Larry at LatG is setting up a Photo Hosting site - it will interesting to see if that is the answer.

I am on at least 10 Forums and I only know one that their traffic is up. Social Media - some people use it, but their is no depth to the discussion. With SM, what is Hot today is Cold tomorrow. Facebook seems to be grabbing most of the people, but then again I know people who quit FB during the last Election. I think the economy is still skewed - people are working, but are they making the same money? Heck 9 years ago I had company supplied Health Insurance and now I pay $70 a week. That cuts into my play fund.

Advertisers - serious issue here! Nobody like pop-ups, so many people have programs like adblockerplus ( I do). Then Advertisers don't get seen, their sales don't go up, they might need to cut something from a budget and guess what?

I certainly don't have the answers, but I believe in the Forums.

All of the above. The average guy has less to spend on a project without going into debt. Inflation, housing bubble 2.0, wage stagnation, and skyrocketing health-care.

I will say the Sloppy group is alive and kicking and probably for the reasons above. I love seeing guys go fast (some really fast) in true low budget fashion.

I am sure there are still a lot of people who check the forum multiple times a day but do not post anything, such as myself. I love the forum, but at the present time I don't have much to contribute sadly.
