Has anyone removed the corvette logo without damaging the red powder coating?

Impossible, you'll have to either touch-up the paint or have the whole caliper redone.

Neither. The logo's are cast in relief to the caliper. The calipers are powder coated then the lettering is sanded down to reveal the aluminum underneath the coating. The only way to remove them is to machine them off and doing this will destroy the P.C.

Sure you aren't thinking of Wilwood? I don't remember for sure if the lettering is paint, but I do know it can be removed. I've powdercoated a set before, and machining was not necessary. I have a feeling you'll end up re-doing the powdercoat if you start messing with removing the logo though... so be prepared.

I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure the caliper shown above is the C5/C5 Z06 front caliper. Again, not an expert, but I think the caliper the OP is referring to is

If it is the caliper above, Tobin at Kore3.com told me that it has been done, but no guarantees. Sand or scrape with a razor blade. I will be trying it when I buy mine. I will also try to repaint a "Camaro" script.

Those are what I wasthinking of and referring to... The letters are cast into the caliper. The "Z06" 6 piston calipers? Not sure, I've never had one in my hands. The others I have three sets of and they are definitely raised.

those are the calipers i am refering to.The lettering feels like they are raised but very faint.I to would also like to do a camaro script.thinking of doing something like machining a thin piece of metal or aluminum to cover the face of the caliper and then powdercoat and adhere somehow.

These are the Z06 calipers I got from KORE3. He told me they're taken off the assembly line before they're powder coated red. Look pretty smooth to me...

The lettering is a stencil which is either powder coat or paint. They are not cast in nor raised, the appearance of the logo being raised is the thickness of the paint. The thickness is why I think it may be a powder coated stencil. I've got a full set I'm using on the new car so I've looked at them extensively for the same reasons being discussed. I'm still trying to decide whether to try removing the logo and take the chance of having to re-powder coat them if it doesn't work out.

Good luck removing the lettering. Just a word of warning. When I decided to powder coat my calipers gray, I had to buy a caliper rebuild kit because it was near impossible to remove the rubber seals without damaging them. In retrospect, and now that I think about it, I'm curious as to whether or not I needed to remove the rubber seals in the first place. I know they have to be able to stand up to heat pretty well, just not sure about the whole powder coating process. Tobin would likely know.

im wondering if a base/clear application will stand up to the heat. engine blocks get pretty damn hot and the paint can take the abuse. that was my plan since i have the same calipers.

Paint them with whatever you want. Unless you are heat soaking them up over 600 degrees... Any BC/CC, laquer or enamal paint can take heat up to that temp for short periods. I use cheap ass rattle can enamel to detail all of my cars and have never had any "burn-off" issues.
When my wife and I detailed the suspension on her '94 Formula she asked about painting the calipers red... We used brush on red industrial enamal paint from ACE...

Still looks good after two years.

Keep in mind these are NOT perfect and, if you look close, you will see impections but they do the job and it looks great from 5 feet away.
If you take your time and clean and prep the calipers correctly the paint will look as good as powder coating and it will live for a long time on street driven car.

Close, but not quite. The calipers pictured are off of the "Grand Sport" production line, hence the silver color, but at stated, they are pulled prior to the addition of the logo. On the red C6 Z06 calipers, shaving the logo and then color sanding the face seems to work the best from what I've seen. Ted at EVS Motors had a good example on his Culture Shock Camaro project where he shaved it and added his own logo in it's place.
