      Touch up paint?

My car has a "custom" blue color and was painted before I bought it. I used to have touch up paint, but it dried up years ago. I have looked at touch up paint at parts stores, but they are (of course) for factory colors. The chips and scratches from driving it are adding up, and besides clear what are my options? I can't even "test" the paints at the parts store because they are sealed. Any suggestions?

A good paint shop will be able to make you a custom blend if there is a color chip to work from...

A local shop around here is the supplier to all the big body shops and I've been told they have some sort of camera/device they can place on a clean painted surface to color match

Luckily the guy who pained mine wrote down all 3 Dupont paid codes & names and now I've been able to go to this same supplier (they don't advertise, are not generally a retail store, but will take your cash) and I can get a pretty good size bottle (couple ounces) in a bottle that can be shaken to mix and has a brush built into the lid for about $30 a bottle

If your touch up paint has a label on it with the paint info, they can use that. Or, like TomsResto stated. Most paint suppliers will have a paint camera that will give them the code or formula. My Matrix paint rep in Indianapolis has used it a few times for me.

The only thing I was able to find near me was a "chip book". Surprisingly there is a match that looks really close. At least close enough to fill in chips & scratches.

Don't laugh... I have used nail polish to fill chips. On my '02 CETA I found a yellow that was an exact match. It was cheap at the dollar store and know one knew but me... Until now, that is.
