suspension setup?

New to this board and found alot of useful info on here. Ok here is my question(s). I have a 67 camaro and I am going thru the brakes and suspension. Have a 4 wheel disc kit on the way. Now I am wondering about the springs etc, Have narrowed my selection down to the hotckis tvs or the gmachine setup from Justsuspension out of Phoenix. Anybody using either of these setups? If you are, pros, cons? The setup from just suspension comes with shocks and a frontend rebuild kit for just alittle more and they almost had me talked into new upper and lower control arms too. But not sure which way to go, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I think you need to look at what you want to do with the car first because there may be big differences between the shocks and spring rates that make them much different and the best advice I can give you is not to shop price but function, and stay away from KYB shocks and poly bushings.

What engine? BB? SB? LS1?
How much horsepower? 300? 1000?
What do you want to do with the car? open track? autocross? canyon carving? daily driver?
what size wheels/tires?
How important is ride smoothness and how smooth are your roads?
How low do you want the car? In the weeds, or just a little below stock?

How thick is your wallet?

Thanks for the replies. It is mostly going to be a weekend car to play around with, cruise, strip once or twice a yr I would like it to handle alot better than it does now regardless. It has a sbc with about 300hp with a muncie 4spd. Do you mean no poly bushings with kyb shocks or no poly at all? If not at all what do you recommend? I have 15 x 7 rallys right now but I want to put some 17's on it as time and money allow. I just want it to sit an inch or 2 lower than it does now maybe just enough to fill some of the gap in the wheelwells. It is mostly original, I got it from my dad who just put it in shows and the occasional cruise but I want to enjoy driving it, not much fun as it sits right now.Roads around here are not to bad, fairly smooth for the most part.Thanks again

I don't do a lot with the first gen cars so I think David Pozzi can help you better with set up on them but IMO the Hotchkis set up would work well for you, as for poly bushings don't use them you would be better off with stock replacement rubber (the only thing poly is good for is in non moving locations such as body mounts) or if funds allow use the Global West del-a-lums in the control arms and don't use them in the leaf springs, KYB shocks are junk get Konis, Bilstein or Edelbrocks

thanks 79taman. I was pretty much leaning towards the hotchkis anyway and they have a rebate right now also. Are the poly parts noisy,or too stiff or what. Thought maybe they would help but now you got me thinking.

poly's are ok if properly lubricated. had trouble with some but they are mostly quiet. The new ones are designed with a grease channel to even out the grease.If this is going to be a hard street / mild track then you might want to consider the Dels for the front suspension.

not going to be driven real hard for the most part and I am pretty good at maintaining my vehicles and such. So I think the energy suspension stuff is what I am going to use
