I bought a 69 built with their bolt in setup installed... the driver side actuator arm just failed and instead of replacing it I'm thinking of removing it all together and going back to OEM style.

It's definitely nice eye candy and receives alot of comments at any car shows, etc. but I'm using the car for more touring than show. To convert it back to OEM style will cost me less than to replace the one actuator arm (looks to run about $225 per electric-life's website).

If you are interested in buying a used setup let me know, as I'll discount significantly from what it runs new.

So after removing the actuator from the car I find that the arm that extends out of the actuator threads onto the threaded shaft inside the actuator but the two had become uncoupled. The actuator motor still spins with power and the actuator arm still connects (I threaded it back on) so there many not be anything wrong other than adjusting the starting set length to work in conjunction with the other side actuator.

so the actuators, mounting plates, RF receiver, etc. are all out of the car now ... if anyone is interested in buying from me (will discount signficantly from cost to buy the kit new) for their ride let me know

Hard to describe it all in words... as a complete kit there are multiple mounts, for multiple components. The base of the actuator arm is effectively "anchored" on a plate that spans two OEM bolts above the front wheel wheels/fender, then there is a plate that attaches to the top & inside face of the core support at the corners (from what I can tell would prevent any "over extension" at full open/titled forward travel), then the other end of the actuator arms connect (bolt) to plates on the underside of the hood, with a small shock aborber that comes off of the upper part of the control arm and also attaches to the hood. On the firewall end of the engine bay there are pin "guides" that bolt into firewall/fender where stock hinges mount, then the hood pins are part of a bracket that mount to the same bolts that the stock hinge bolts to at the hood.

I'll see if I have some better "under the hood" pictures that show some of the detail that I'm attempting to describe above.

Well those pics are about the best I can offer... anyone coming across this thread can spare me the comments on my professional green crayon overlay via MS Paint, Madden would be lucky to have my mad skilz ;)

I didn't photograph everything as I took it off, but I do have a copy of the installation instructions (printed paper copy) that would go to anyone that buys it that I'm certain in conjunction with these pictures (more than a guy normally gets if he buys the full kit new and only gets the printed instructions). I don't have a great close up of the brackets that attach to the core support... you can just kind of see them (difficult because everything is painted black in my engine bay including these brackets) above the wiper fluid reservoir and the battery.
