So after driving it for a few days, we noticed the turbine and compressor housings were seeping oil, enough to get into the charge tubes and the exhaust. So we are building a sump tank for the turbos to drain into, then from there it will go into the scavenge pump and up into the motor. We also think some of this has to do with there not being check valves on the feed lines. So I’m going to remedy both of those issues.

I also pulled some of the turbo kit off to clean out the oil and while that’s being done I dropped off the turbine housings to get ceramic coated hoping it will help with the temperatures seeing they are next to wiring/ brakes lines etc.

The turbos work awesome, Just need to perfect the oiling system for them is all. At least it’s something simple

I was going to say something about the need for little sumps for the oil drains...but....LOL

Yeah the company we got the scavenge pump from assured us it has the power to pull the oil without the tank. And letting it run after it’s shut off with a timed relay would work perfectly fine and oil wouldn’t run back. Welp they were WRONG lol

I like how he did his, I’d like to do something similar for the little tanks under mine but unfortunately I feel it would be difficult considering my turbo drain bolts is how my turbos mounted in place. That is a bad ass car.

So after brainstorming with these guys we came up with the solution to control the oil problem

We put a check valve in the oil return line after the scavenge pump, put in a sump tank, made new return lines , and also put check valves in the oil feed lines. So far no oil issues. Put some miles on it today and no smoke or oil seepage. And to help control the heat I got the exhaust housings ceramic coated. Name: IMG_8646.JPG

Now I am working on venting the crankcase. The single catch can I have with the little lines aren’t going to work, it was good enough for the stock engine but not now. So I am now running two moroso catch cans with a -10 to each valve cover. I’m getting the fitting welded this week and will make the other line. Just trying to perfect it as I drive it more.Name: IMG_9118.JPG

      Done!

If both valve covers are vented can I remove the little pcv hose the goes from the valley cover to the intake and cap off both ports?

Put V bands on the headers to stop the exhaust leaks, they were driving me nuts. Weighed the truck too.

Man, that's not bad at all for weight. My 70 GTO is right there with you and it doesn't have the weight of the turbo components.

I am pretty happy with the weight, especially with it being a long bed. Thank you!

Other air cleaners were super restrictive and had the little metal insert in the end of it that I guess comes off and usually trashes the compressor wheel on the turbo. So I got rid of those. Since I am a little cramped for space I picked up these “shorty turbo” K&N filters and it definitely is breathing way better. The Turbo needs 1000cfm of air flow and in most cases the only way to do that is to run a turbo guard or a HUGE air filter. These aren’t flowing that much. But they’re much better than the others. Heat wrapped the pipes too.
