Holley LS Conversion fitment issue (maybe)

Tell me if this sounds right. With Holley's complete LS conversion kit, my LS6 is hanging down below the frame, to the point where the oil plug is about an inch lower than the frame, making it the lowest point on the car (about 2.5" off the ground). That makes me nervous as all get out. Is it possible I've got the wrong motor mounts or something and the engine is just sitting to low? When we bought the stuff, Holley didn't give a whole lot of guidance as to which mounts to buy, so we literally just took the kit over to Advanced Auto and flipped through a bunch of mounts until we found something that fit.

      Thoughts?

      Thanks!!

This image depicts what the typical oil pan reveal is below the subframe crossmember when using the Hooker 12618HKR clamshell retrofit brackets with the intended 2292 clamshell mounts that are called out in the instructions. The amount of reveal is practically identical to what is present with the original SB oil pan and has not created an issue for anyone I'm aware of since Holley began selling the new 1st-gen system components back in 2012. If I was putting together a lowered car and was concerned about it, I would fabricate a small steel skid/extension plate to add to the bottom of the crossmember as opposed to consider raising the engine in order for the pan to rest higher than the bottom of the crossmember. Raising the engine will have a negative affect on your ability to achieve optimized U-joint working angles and also raises the vehicle center of gravity. Name: 302-2 front ground clearance.jpg

so it's supposed to be that low is what you're saying. The skid plate idea is a good one, I'll look into that. I'll also check the mount and make sure the numbers match. Mine was one of the ones that was missing the instructions there for a bit, and a call to Holley didn't help solve the question (this has been well over a year ago... we just got around to putting it all together).

      Thanks for the insights!!
