      Another engine mount question..

So I noticed Holley has some new mounts....

I have a 69 Camaro with an LS on a set of old plates. Engine is pointing down at 6 degrees which is not good.

Concerning Holley's new mounts, I've read they only work with their headers? I hate to have to change the headers out on the car, does anyone know if its a dimple to get them to work with Holley's mounts or will they just plain not work?

Also how about where the engine is positioned? Stock, forward?

      Thanks for the help!

I think their mounts for their headers position the engine forward. What trans are you using?

You should be able to make a judgement of the firewall clearance difference between the mounts you are using now and the Hooker engine brackets from these attached images. Name: 2276-1HKR-on 68 Camaro-3.jpg

Thanks for the images...Tough to make any real judgment's as my firewall has been modified. The transmission is a T56

What I did find out is I have a set of Holleys original mounting plates Part# 12611HKR, so Toddoky with the new system, dimensionally how does the engines position change? Looking at the SSW headers I have now, I could afford to go forward and down a bit. What I am worried about is moving the engine forward, its going to move the shifter position forward, meaning I will have to move the center console to make sure the shifter is still in the center.....

The 12611HKR swap plates locate the engine/transmission mating plane in the stock SB Chevy location, which puts the LS engine right side cylinder heads in close proximity to the stock firewall and SB heater core inlet/outlet stubs. The newer 12618HKR engine brackets move the eng/trans mating plane forward from that position slightly, but I can't tell you by what discrete amount it does. One thing I do know is that the shifter on an aftermarket T56 Magnum comes up though the stock console dead-center. A 4th-gen F-body T56 shifter is set back from that position and requires the use of an offset shifter and/or repositioning of the console to get things centered up.

Thank you for taking the time to answer.

      Last question...I promise..

Concerning the mounts discussed above, I presume my original 12611HKR plates do not accomplish the driveline angles like the newer 12618HKR? Right now the engine is pointing down about 6 degrees which is not optimal.

That's correct, the 12618HKR engine brackets provide an installed engine height that is much lower than what is achieved with using the 12611HKR plates, which translates into a 3 to 3.5 degree engine inclination angle relative to the bottom of the frame rails and the ability to achieve optimized U-joint working angles.
