      1970 Cutlass Disc Brake Conversion

I want to convert my 70 Cutlass from a front drum brake to a manual disc brake set up, can someone give me an idea as to what OEM disc brake set up I can use and still retain my stock drum spindle without any modifications.

Im not looking for a big dollar aftermarket set up with my budget, so any help in this area would be helpful.

      Thank you for your help

I am not 100% sure this is what you are looking for, but www.touringclassics.com has a kit that uses corvette front calipers and rotors on your drum spindle. www.speedtech-performance.com has a similare kit. Touring classics list the kit as for a 64-72 Chevelle and speed techs is for 64-72 a-body. These are the only two kits I know of that allow you to use your stock drum spindles.

PS. You could check out the disk brake basics over at TC the same should apply for for the cutlass http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107745

You can convert to stock 11" discs by buying some repro OEM style brackets($80), new rotors, calipers, hoses, and master-cyl.
You'll spend about 45 minutes with the grinder on your drum spindles to make disc spindles out of them.
