      Coilovers - Ridetech vs. Viking

      Hey All,

I've excluded QA1 because for the money there doesn't seem to be any benefit over Viking.

There does however seem to be a gap in ridetech to Viking and want to know if I should shell out the extra $$

A little about what I'm doing. These are for the rears in my 69 Roadrunner and my Buddies 69 Charger. We are building a Torque Arm rear suspension (with Geometry help from the man Ron Sutton)

I have the MF front end with Viking's. Ron of course recommends ridetech because they are linked but for almost an extra $300 for the pair is it worth the money for a driver (not a competition car but may try my hand at the odd event)

      Thanks,

Which of the two are American made and have a million mile warranty?

Not sure about everyone else but I am done buying parts twice because the first set either doesn't last or doesn't work as I wanted. The best doesn't always mean the most expensive, but there are times when money spent is a much better choice than money saved.

Didn't know Vi-King were made over seas. Can't seem to find that info do you know where they are made? That probably seals the deal right there

I'm pretty sure Vi-kings are US made too, however they do not carry the 1m mile warranty. I can say that I love that fact ridetech has a presence here in the forum.

While the Vi-Kings are budget friendly, I prefer the ridetech stuff.

I have not used the Viking shocks, but I do use ridetech. I will say the ridetech customer service is excellent. They have helped me a ton tuning on my setup from shock settings to spring rates.

      Coilovers - Ridetech vs. Viking

Have physically abused Viking shocks for three full seasons of road course, autocross and terrible country roads with zero issues and I have never came close to running out of adjustment. I plan on selling my current setup and switching to Vikings brand new 4way remote reservoir shocks when there released this spring. High and low speed compression and rebound adjustments all from the reservoir means I don't ever have to climb under the car to do quick adjustments. Very excited about that. Lol. Not to mention Chris King and his wife Christina are always wonderful to deal with.

If you read the about us page on the Viking web site they carefully avoid saying anything about where they are engineered or built. If they were built in the US one would expect them to state that up front.

Not sure this is true or not, but I heard the original owner of QA1 shocks & a VP from K&N got together to form Viking shocks company.

I have Viking front shocks but have yet to get my Car together yet.

Not quite, the original owner of QA1, it is his daughter and son in law that own ViKing.

I've posted the question on their Facebook page to ask straight out where they are made. See if I get any sort of response.

This is from their webpage "Viking conducts all research, development, prototyping, shock assembly, dynamometer testing and select manufacturing in-house in our 25,000 sq. ft. facility. "

      "SELECT MANUFACTURING" hmmmmm

That is what I was talking about above. They carefully avoid saying where their 25,000 sq. ft. facility is located, and they sure do not say it is in the US.

I'm sure Chris would've more than willing to give anyone a tour. Brett Vokel and Chris King are both great business men with reputable American companies.

Well they replied no issue on their Facebook page:

Hi, Mike. Yes, our shocks/springs are Amercian made. The note on the website refers to the fact that we do not perform all machining in-house. All shocks are 100% assembled and dyna-tested in our factory.

My vote is ridetech! No one has them beat for price. And trust me no one test as much as we do.
