Things to do in Los Angeles

I am heading to L.A. in the middle of April for a weekend. I was just wondering what there is to do, I will have my 13 year old son with me. I am looking for cool places to take him and some things to do. Sunday I am booked so this would only be Friday and Saturday. Any local hidden gem restaurants would be appreciated as well. We are heading to the Pomona Swap Meet on Sunday. Also where is a safe place to stay. I don't mind driving a ways to show him some stuff, he has never been there and I haven't been there in years myself. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Take him to a Dodger or Angel game. I would stay near the Ontario Mills Mall area if you want to be near the Pomona area. Places in Orange County would be better and it is not far from Pomona, depending on the time of day for traffic. There is Duke's on the beach in Huntington Beach at the Pier, excellent food. Maybe the Petersen Museum. There is a SCCA Pro Solo event at El Toro the second or third weekend in April. I hope this helps. Southern California is an excellent place to visit.

Six Flags Magic Mountain, Hollywood and Highland "the walk of fame" tourist area, the Venice Beach boardwalk, Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, Pink's Hot Dogs, Studio Backlot Tour @Warner Bros.

Not sure if you like this sort of thing, but the U.S.S. Iowa battleship is now a museum in L.A. harbor. It's on my list to go visit!

Go to Venice Beach, not to swim or go into water but to see all the "entertainment" from the locals.

Go have a picnic on the Crest, Highway rt 2. If the weather is nice, you'll see some cool cars drive by (and hundreds of motorcycles).

The Peterson Museum is awesome, I just went there a few weeks ago and the renovation came out amazing.

If you get a fun rental, Mulholland Drive is always a good time, and The Snake is a good place to pull over any watch the cars and bikes show off. Youtube "Mulholland Snake" for a good preview. There are a TON of awesome canyon roads to drive on too, for both the scenery and winding roads. From there you can head out to Neptune's Net for some kickass fried seafood on Pacific Coast Highway, then cruise back to Santa Monica.

Cars n Coffee in Aliso Viejo Town Center (orange county) and Supercar Sunday in Woodland Hills Mall always pull a great crowd of cars too, but be sure to get there early! El Toro (also orange county) may be having an autocross, so check the schedule.

For non-car related stuff, Venice, Manhattan, Redondo, Huntington, and Laguna Beaches are all great places to check out, and each one is unique. The Reagan Presidential Library is REALLY nice too.

Needless to say, there's a ton of stuff to do out here. Have fun!
