      Centerforce pressure plate

I posted this in the drivetrain section and received no responses. I would like some opinions on whether I should try to use this or if I should be buying new.

I got this pressure plate and clutch disc with a group of used parts I bought. It may be hard to see in the photo but the pressure plate is sucked in toward the center and it looks like it was only contacting the outer inch or so of the clutch disc. There is plenty of friction material left on the disc.

Is it useable or should I just get a new one?

I would toss that in the scrap bin unless it was _really_ easy to get the trans out......

Scrap it and use new parts unless you enjoy pulling the transmission.

It's hard to tell by the photos. I have heard of people refinishing pressure plates. My general rule is to never re-use clutch parts just because it's such a PIA to pull the transmission.

Thanks for the replies. That is what I figured. Good thing I didn't really pay anything extra for it.

I didn't know that was an option. Are you talking resurfacing or sending it to Centerforce to rebuild?

Centerforce USED to rebuild them, Heck I have torn pressure plates down and cleaned them up and even machined a couple also (they were old race type clutches).
You could also talk to NAPA you used to be able to send in parts to get them rebuilt (your old , original parts) but not sure IF it still can be done, cant hurt to ask.
I know I used to send in water pumps for reconditioning, numbers originals and older tractor units, all came back fixed up great.

We posted in your original thread also, but if you can send us some additional pictures, we can get a better idea of the pressure plates condition.
