G Body - Front adjustable upper control arms

G body owners on here, how many of you are running front upper adjustable control arms ? I like the idea of camber setting without the need of shims, but I am wondering about the strength of the rod ends used on the adjustable arms vs. non adjustable arms.

We manufacture the adjustable uppers for G-Body's like you mentioned above.

      http://umiperformance.com/catalog/in...roducts_id=860

We actually run those arms on our 79 Monte that we "abuse" on Auto-x and Road Course's with great success.

Most of our G-Body customers are going this route to eliminate or cut down on shims.

No complaints so far on the integrity of this combination.

If you need any info or pricing please feel free to give me a call here at the shop.

I just bought UMI control arms for my 86ss.
I did a lot of research before buying, and here's my reasons for UMI....
Im the kind of guy who wants to do something ONCE and get it out of the way. You obviously know how bad stock geometry is, I outgrew my suspension my first year autocrossing....It's that bad.
Ive thrown away too many foreign parts, so something like suspension needs to be high quality, it's your safety too. UMI makes their products in house in PA and even with USA made metals. When my arms shipped, it took me a while to unbox it all. They wrap them up nice!
We all put our cars through hell on here, and the UMI green machine has definitely seen track time. Last I heard from their engineer, their carb'd sbc 79' green machine was only 1 second behind their 5th gen Camaro SS and the Pitt road course. That's amazing!
Their engineer raced circle track growing up, so who better to design the parts we need?!
Ive met the owner at an event and he's a very genuine man. Those guys are car enthusiasts who exceed our demands as customers.

I chose their lower arms with Derlin bushings and 1/2" tall lower ball joints.
Uppers are adjustable with 1" taller ball joints. The more spindle height, the better!

I can't wait to to get more UMI parts. Im a customer for life!
I'll get sicmonte to chime in, he's had multiple setups and is experienced with multiple brands

If you read Ron Sutton's links on the internet end geometry, he talks about adjustable upper a-arms. From what I gathered he didn't like them because it changes the length of the arm and therefore the pivot points which in turn messes up the geometry... Kinda like putting a bandaid on a gunshot wound. Does it help, yes, does it fix the problem? Nope.
