      Unicorn tires

I have been working on my 68' Bird and found these. . .not a easy find! They are brand new
Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R 6685's still with the stickers 29x18x18. I'm super excited I found them, I was told they by many they are impossible to find.
Im going to be getting the wheels soon and will post pics of them installed

The code is 4305? I'm guessing April 5, 2005 . . . Excellent shape! They look and feel brand new!

Congrats on finding the tires you wanted, but doesn't a 10+ year old tire worry you a little? It would be a terrible shame to have one come apart and wreck that beautiful bird you have, or even worse hurt someone. Is there a particular reason you had to have this exact tire? I'm sure tire technology has come a long way in 10 years, maybe there's an alternative that would make you even happier knowing it's a recently made tire? Sorry, don't mean to rain on your parade. Just a concerned citizen! haha

The car is tubbed, tires on there now are 18" wide. No one makes a wide 18" tire that's a 18. . . Only thing I could find was 14", that means I would have to run a 4" spacer or get new axels made with the correct width.
I wanted to go with 18s over 15s, and 20s are to big. I thought it was a good fit to run a 18/17 setup.
. . . Are you scared of all cars that are older than 2005 because the tires might blow? They have been sitting in a temp controlled shop. They are perfect! No cracks, blemishes, or defects

The composition of the tire breaks down over time.

Take care of them. No burnouts. Next set will be harder to find.

Tires looking like that I would be concerned about! Looks like they have sun damage and have not been cared for properly

You'd be better off changing the wheels to 20's and getting new tires that fit and work. The effectively stiffer sidewall will surprise you with how well it handles. Just my .02!
