Not much to update, it's taking way too long for me to get stuff done. I did go to a swap meet and score some wilwood clutch/brake pedals with the master cylinders for $80. I have my buddies coming over this weekend to help me get this thing on the road.

I also wanted to know if anybody could tell me what kind of problems I'm going to run into with trying to get this to an open track day? (Besides the obvious safety gear requirements) but would I not be allowed on a track because it's a chassis of my own design? Any input would be appreciated.

      Update:
      Floor and firewall almost finished
      Brake pedal and M/C mounted
Chassis 90% welded (started painting too)
Figured out how I'm mounting the radiator(it was super tight)
Picked out the coil overs I want
Picked up a low mileage lq4

Been drooling over your photos and missed this question.

The car being your own design, should not be an issue. The rules of open track days seem to vary from track-to-track and organizer-to-organizer. NOT all organizers are equal. I've been at some with strict rules, and some where a guy came of the track not wearing a helmet and in flip-flops.

Basic rules apply. No fluids that can leak, no leaks period. Tires in good visual condition. Have the proper safety harnesses and make sure your helmet is current and Snell as you have a 'cage. The battery needs to be fastened securely. Given the build you have, most of this is a no-brainer. I have a couple of organizers that request a minimum of 50% on your brake pads, but they can only see so much during tech.

If a specific car club is doing the open track session they may follow SCCA or FIA rules - which you can google. Or contact the organizer in advance - they like that.

But as I mentioned above, the rules and safety vary widely with the track, organizer and event. Be mindful of this. Once you start going, you'll find a group of people you like to run with. I have a car club here my area called the SPDA, their events are great, safe and they tend to weed out the morons.

I just re-looked at the photos - people are going to beg you to run this. It's so awesome.

Awesome!!!! I'm glad to hear I might be able to actually use it on a track. Thanks for the motivation too!

I forgot one thing. Roll-bar padding! Get the SFI stuff, nothing else will do, not matter what anyone says. Loads of stock car companies make it, like All Star for example.

Looks like photobucket is worthless, so no pics or videos. It Has zero traction in the rear! I would have never guessed traction would be a problem. I'll post more as it gets closer to being street legal.
