Offset and Scrub Radius question
Hello all, my OEM wheels are
Front: 19x8.5 +48mm offset
Rear: 19x9.0 +57mm offset
I have contracted Forgestar to make new wheels with the same specs, but they state they want to make them +30mm (front) and +40mm (rear) offset to clear the Brembo brakes. My concern is that this will alter the scrub radius and make the car handle worse.
This is my daily driver (not tracked yet) and has all OEM suspension components including MacPherson struts. I put some chalk on the tire and turned it from lock to lock a few times and it appears the center of rotation is dead center of the tire contact patch. My understanding is that this is bad as it will cause the tire to squirm. Maybe this is OK considering the power steering is electric assist and not a typical hydraulic power steering unit. Anyway, am I over thinking this?
