      Exhaust Help Needed

      Hello,
I have been a lurker for some time now. I'm in the process of finishing my exhaust, and I need some help choosing mufflers. I really want to quiet my system down a bit, and maybe even minimize/eliminate the drone at low RPM. Here's my current set-up:

      - SSRE 540ci BBC with Hooker SuperComp Headers
      - Three inch Stainless X-pipe with Stainless Black Widow mufflers positioned just before the diff (No tail pipes currently)

I have been thinking of going with the Borla PRO-XS or the XR-1's....I will be building out tailpipes ultimately following the installation of a DSE Quadralink or AME IRS. Thank you in advance for any insight you can provide.

      Pics below...

      Thanks,

      Larry

I would put some tailpipes on it first and see how it sounds... Can't hurt and may save you the cost of different mufflers.

One of my other thoughts is to simply add bottle resonators or "Porter Mufflers" into my straight run of pipe just before the black widows, and add turn downs. This would allow me the to install the maximum size fuel tank as I'm currently running a notched 16gal tank. With this powerplant, this thing is definitely not a going to pass a gas station...

I have a similar issue but I am currently running turn downs on the end of the mufflers. I suspect simply installing tail pipes will ultimately be the best solution and kill the drone or at least move it out from under the car.
