Custom Build 70 Cougar

Wow its not every day you have a customer come in and say. " I want to Customize A cougar" . Well we did, Follow along this blog to see updates of this fun project we have embarked on. Their isn't one area on this ride that is not customized or perfected. From shaved handles, trim and moldings to shaved drip rails and widened body. I guess for us to some up this Cougar restoration customization project we would have to say. Low, Mean , Wide and loud. We are going to take a trip back in time from our Middlefield Ct restoration shop and time travel to Ford Motor Companies design department in late 60's and inject 10 ton's of Viagra, Testosterone and steroids into this ride. The 70 Cougar arrives to us as you see below. Sand Blasted and in Black Epoxy primer. We have many small rust repairs to so as well as some repairs of previous patchwork before we can start the fun and exciting parts of customization.
Moving on to the passenger side we shaved the handles , drip rails, turn signals as well as patched many rust holes and pits.
Above we have welded previous holes from Vinyl top moldings and minor rust restoration and repair.The Bare metal is immediate epoxy primed.
You see minor rust repair to upper fender wells ans molded turn signals.Shaved door handles, shaved drip rail, lead in quarters repaired plus
rust spots.
raw steel is then top coated in an epoxy rust inhibiting primer.

From the last time we updated Johns Cougar you could see the welded holes for the top moldings, shaved door handles, etc. Since then we have done a bit more body work and flush mounted the back window. As you can see in the photos below the flush mounted glass fits in perfectly for a nice smooth look to the vehicle. (The glass is just in there for a test to make sure its the right size and fits snug. It will be fitted in and sealed soon)

11/3 Update
Primed the inside of hood, and rest of the body with high build primer! This build is coming along great. Almost time for paint, just finishing up a few more things. Stay tuned as we build this bad ass Cougar!
We have done a lot of body work to make the car look perfect! We have also began to prime. First we epoxied the front fenders, using green epoxy which prevents rust from forming. Then we did one coat of high build primer.

The hood is on and fitted! A little bit more body work and then we are ready for primer. Stay tuned as we build this bad ass pro-touring monster.

what size wheels? 18 or 19 looks like 19 for some reason
