More Questions on Airbar/Shockwave

The thread on the Airbar for the 2nd Gen was very interesting and made me think this may be what I'm looking for. My question is whether anyone has tried to make this work on a First Gen that has been mini-tubbed. The inside dimensions of the frame rails would still be the same but some of the attachment points for the "ears" of the rear bar may be gone b/c of the frame notching on the wheel side. Also, the lower shock bracket would be moved inward by about the same amount as the frame notch.

I called air ride and they were unaware of any installs in a tubbed car, so now I turn to the experts....Has anyone done this??

Im with you on this one! I have the same question and my project is haulted untill I get more info from the mini tub group. nothing like wasting 2k + to find it won't work.

After talking to ART (air ride Technologies) they referred me to DSE b/c they built the tub kit. ART also said that DSE is an ART dealer so maybe they would have some info. After talking to DSE they really didn't have any answers. They have not done any installs w/ a mini-tub and were pushing their new Quadra-link (can't blame them).

I did get a PDF install document from ART and looked at the frame rail attachment in the docs vs. what mine look like now that they are notched. Looks like the attachment point of the rear bar is at a location where less than half of the frame rail is removed. The thinnest part of the frame rail is farther to the rear.

I don't know whether I'm answering or creating more questions ?!?!?!?

Yep. It's been done. It will work just fine. Like you said the frame rails are not moved and the shock mounts are not used at all. The shockwave gets mounted behind the axle.

That makes me happy to hear. now what about the lower control arm that originally mounted to the stock spring perch? with me moving mine in, to the other side of the frame rail, will that hurt the function of the airshock? closer in = more load? which would also mean more roll?

You moved the front leaf spring mount in or the rear?

im narrowing the rear axle to fit the meats with the mini tub. i have to move the front spring mount on the frame in to the other side and make a mounting spot for it. as for the mount on the axle, that is removed completely and has to be moved in the same as the front mount.

Moving the lower mounts in will cause the vehicle to sit a little higher, but I don't think it will be a noticable amount. If so the lower mount is adjustable and I also have shorter shocks.
