      lost fuel pressure

      427 with mechanical fuel pump. New Holley carb. Drove the car 5 miles lost all fuel pressure. Installed another fuel pump. drove the car 5 miles and lost all fuel pressure. I'm not running a fuel regulator. What's going on ?

      Take air hose and blow air back through line. It sounds like the fuel sock is cruded up.
      Add in an extra inline filter to catch the crap in tank.
      While diagnosing I like to use the glass tube fuel filters. They let you see issus and clean them out. Freiburger and Finnegan used THREE of them inline on a car they resurrected.
      And they had too clean two of then too get back running. Used to run those filters all the time, still have a couple and they do good. Bad thing is they are glass.
      Also look at your fuel cap and tank venting. With unvented cap tank vent is critical. Mud daubers tend to stop things up.
