Tremec Trans for mock up ?'s

I have searched, but I cannot find a straight answer for this.

Tremec 3550 and tko's are said to have the same case.

I want to use my ford 3550 just for mock up in a place that will eventually have a GM tko600.

      Can this work?

      Thanks for the help!

Cases are the same, the guts are different.... TKO is the aftermarket version

I get that the guts, input shaft, output shaft and bellhousings are different.

But I should be able to put a BOP Quicktime scattershield onto the 3550 and acheive the same mounting point measurements as I would with the tko right?

I guess worst case scenario, I build the crossmember, and only tack it in place for easy change... but I would like to be CERTAIN so I can move forward with chassis bracing, exhaust etc...

      thanks for the response.

I don't know, but if the cases were the same the bell housing shouldn't be a problem. I would think if the cross member for one fit the other you should be ok.

The bolt pattern may be different where the bellhousing attaches because the 3550 was made for an OEM bellhousing, but the cases dimensionally should be the same. Essentially IF your bellhousing will mount to the 3550 you should be good with an accurate measurement.

What kind of car is it going in?

Its for a 1953 Chevy truck thats getting a big block cad motor with the aforementioned tko600. Heidts MII, 4 link rear etc... Not necessarily a PT build, but a streetable, driveable hot rod that will see some strip time.

For anyone searching for this same idea....Csouth nailed it. The tko bellhousing was not a direct bolt up to the 3550. The output shaft bearing housing was too big, and the holes did not align.

I shelved my 3550, and am going to wait to have the tko in hand to build mounts.

Thanks for the ideas and comments guys.
