The wiring harness is custom made. Running a series of mil connectors at the major points such as the firewall and switch panel. Can happily send you some pictures of the process. I agree the steering column looks a bit out of place and down the track I might look into other options. The pure race columns don't have the switchgear for indicators and the like so would it would then require making something, perhaps that would attach to the steering wheel itself, such as some push buttons for that but the main priority now is to finish.

As for motivation, some amazing work being done with the coyote engine by this guy-

It is also worth checking out his Facebook page. He has them cranking out 640hp at 8200 rpm....
He lives and works in my area so will be responsible for tuning mine.

I'm new to this pro tour site .. Still learning. Posted my first reply to you on my original post instead of here. Anyway ...

I can see this is a very well thought out mustang project. It represents a great deal of engineering that is implemented really well. I like the look. Well Done! I will be using some of your cage ideas. Next week we will be bolting in the front/rear torque box connecting rectangular sections onto my '66. Biggest present challenges .. Making my entire cage "bolt-in" so it can be removed, powder coated to match my stock interior reinstalled, and still be able to use the fold down rear seat, so no bars through this area.

After re reading your entire post again ... I'm wondering if you could have part of your cage "removeable enough" that it could pass by the licensing people, and still pass FIA? As I mentioned, the cage in my 66 fastback is being built with boltable sections to be fully removeable in front of the hoop i.e. Side hoops and the bars across the windshield. My torque box connections are under the rug .. Invisible.

Not sure. The advice I got here was it was better to weld them. Will follow your progress with interest.

In the meantime, some more pics...waiting to fire and tune this is killing me but the guy who is going to do it is having his time eaten up by v8supercar teams at the moment and they have deeper pockets than I do.

Thanks Wayne. So close now. I wish the v8 supercar season here was finished so this could get tuned as it is ready to go. They have a couple of endurance races at the end though - just had Sandown 500 (km's) and then Bathurst next which is 1000km so Roger Higgins (innov8 race engines)is really busy right now.

Want it fired, tuned and then tested at the track!

      Bolt in roll cage

Here are some pics of my bolt-in roll cage. You can see how sections are connected or temporarily left off (if passing road registration is an issue) The cage is still a work in progress. It will be powder coated and the final bolts will be ARP stainless. You can see how the rear angle brace leaves the Shelby window totally unobstructed. It is slightly angled to allow use of the GT350R plexiglass racing rear window. The part of the cage following the window contour is positioned high and will be parchment white. From the side of the car the cage is virtually invisible.

Hub dyno to run it in anger but I have ordered some aftermarket coil packs and am just waiting on them to arrive. Runs well but will definitely want some more spark. Running a Motec system so ordered an additional coil and will send it to them for calibration and then will be right to go. Everything else appears to be working as it should. Then off to the track for a shakedown. Just takes time unfortunately .....

Ok, so ran the car hard on a mainline roller dyno to identify what bugs there might be. Initially oil pressure was a major concern but got that sorted. Everything went well but we identified the following:

      1. Will be getting a much bigger heat exchanger for the supercharger and fitting it in front of the existing radiator. The intake temps were simply too high once you had run it hard for a while and once up they would not come back down. Annoying but have to admit this was not unexpected. I was always concerned that the one we were running was too small.

      2. serious belt slip on the supercharger - we were only making a max of 0.4 bar of boost when we should be pushing around 1.2bar. Fortunately not a big fix as we just need to run a slightly shorter belt.

The clutch is unhappy and will be pulled and I suspect replaced. Once these issues are fixed we will be back to the dyno and will be heading to a hub dyno next time. We were not far off getting wheel spin on the dyno we were using and with proper boost it will be generating a lot more power. It was good to finally hear it run properly and fortunately it all held together.

Spools power instantly. Can't imagine it's not dialled in yet and how much more to come. Car looks great. Checking out your undercarriage, that is s serious set up. I'd love to see that car in person!
