      steering u joint

I am looking to switch u-joint on my 71 Chevelle and was wondering if anyone had any trick or tips that might help. It looks like its a pretty straight forward process that shouldn't cause much brain damage but we all know how that goes.

It looks like most people use http://www.borgeson.com and seem to be pretty happy with the product.

      Thanks in advance.

You pretty much nailed it there. You will need two u joints to fit your column and steering box, 3/4" DD on the other end of each joint and then a piece of shaft. If header clearance isn't an issue http://www.borgeson.com/xcart/catalo...gth-p-994.html at which point one of the u joints will need to have a 1" DD instead of 3/4" DD.

Depending on the size of the input shaft on your steering gearbox you can re-purpose a Jeep Cherokee steering shaft that has a different type of rag joint.
