Homemade Subframe connectors? 2nd Gen Camaro

I have some 1.25 diam steel tubing w/1/8 inch wall that I was going to make some subframe connectors out of. I was thinking the 1.25 might be a little small so I was going to put two side by side and try to tuck them up nice and tight and weld them the the subframe, rear frame rail and the floor braces. Any opinions or pictures of anyone that has done this?
The only thing I could find online was these that are for a Dodge...I think.
