      Used Clutches

Never having dealt with clutches or manual transmissions I don't know very much about clutches. However I have seen used ones up for sale and people snagging them up. Is there a way to tell by looking if a used clutch is worth buying or is it something that should only be bought new?

Clutch discs themselves are usually cheap. What's the application?
      Personally I wouldn't buy a used one.

If it's close to stock hp, a clutch kit from autozone, oreillys, RockAuto etc should be pretty cheap.

Otherwise an LS7 clutch kit is pretty inexpensive too, compared to aftermarket upgrades.

Depends on the seller and the clutch. I have sold two used clutches. They were pulled because I either upgraded or the application changed. Perfectly good clutches with good disc life remaining. In the long run, you don't really save any money, but it can put you the road quicker. If you don't have the funds for a new clutch. It's like a used car, you pay less, but it has some wear already. You want new, cost more money.

My suggestion is always buy a new clutch if you have the funds to do so. If funds are tight, you want a good clutch, and the seller is truth worthy, it's a good avenue.

If you drag race if really drive the car hard, I would avoid any gm clutch with a SAC
