      New guy, 1962 TBird

      Howdy.

I've tried a couple different boards, but my current build just doesn't seem to fit in anywhere.

Thought I'd try this board as the pro-touring "mold" seems to fit the concept I have for this car.

It's a 1962 Thunderbird Hard top. Currently, it's a rust bucket. As in: someone else would probably scrap it rust bucket.

Plans are to return it to good metal, do some torsional stiffening and then start working on Brakes, suspension and finally drivetrain.

Overall plans for the car is just a nice classy cruiser that is capable of getting out of it's own way and not looking like a total waste on twisty roads.

When it's ready, we may try a few Targa style events (me and the missus), perhaps a longer road rally (timed event type stuff where precision is more the focus, me and the missus again) or maybe autocross to see what this big girl can do around some cones (purely for my own grins and giggles, it is 4000+ lbs after all!).

It's also going to be intended as a decent sized rig to haul me, my missus and my daughter around in the summer when my daughter comes to visit (I'm divorced and my truck doesn't have enough seats). Maybe even get my daughter interested in wrenching a bit.

I guess the 'Bird is really just going to be an "all around" type car when done.

Will be posting a project thread soon.

      Cheers

      BJ
