      leaf spring pads

I am swapping out the springs on my 79 z28

The stock pads are in ok shape but I have no reason not to replace them.

What are most people using. I have prothane bushings in the springs.

I don't use pads on the leaf springs anymore. On builds where I use hotchkis springs, I've just been bolting everything together metal to metal. I couldn't tell any difference with or with out.

You would have to get an adapter to do that with the 79 as the perches are setup up for multi-leaf and the rubber or urethane pads. There is no hole to locate the spring bolt in, other than the one in the upper pad.Customworks has a metal adapter to use in place.

Some of the guys using urethane have had them shift on the spring as they are more "slippery" than rubber. I have them on my 81 and no movement.

Maybe first gen and Nova spring perchs are different but second gen has nothing to grab the upper bolt on the spring as there is a 1 1.2"x2" cavity for the pad to fit in. The pad has the locating hole. Unless those springs have a pyramid on top then only the bottom U bolt bracket is them locating the spring.
