Testing car after rebuild, A/C pump query

This may be a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway.

I am getting to the stage of having my car ready to be fired up for the first time and take for a test drive. My plan is to make sure everything works ok in terms of engine, gearbox, and brakes. I have not run any A/C lines off my AC compressor yet so my question is: Can I run my AC pump off the accessories drive belt and have no dramas ie. cause no damage to the compressor (provided it has the correct oil installed in it)?

I plan to install all appropriate hoses and gas the system up after it's painted.

      Dave.
