      Replacing a powerglide

Does anyone know what tranny's are the same physical length as a 2 speed glide? I would like to replace it with a T-350/400 or OD trans.

      Thanks!!

TH350 should be the same length and same mount points.

If this is for your BOP, 400's are alot easier to find...ask me how I know! LOL
A 350 would be an easier swap but...
There are another set of bolt holes to mount your trans crossmember back farther. You'll need to get a shorter drive shaft and mount and wire in a kick down switch. We had an easy swap cause we found a donor car in the wrecking yard.

what kind of shifter are you going to use, ive got a horseshoe shifter that was used in a p/glide to th350 swap, you just have to notch out a section to get to 1st gear. pm me if you want pics.

My shifter is a column shift. If I have to do some mods, I may just go with an OD trans to make it worth my time and money. Is there an OD that would be a bolt in without much mods?

      411 from the interweb:

"The 200-4R overdrive trans has a 27-spline TH-350-style output shaft and is commonly found in ’81-’90 Chevy Monte Carlos, Malibus, El Caminos and Impalas. These transmissions are durable enough to withstand the punishment of the legendary turbo Buick Grand National from the factory. The 200-4R measures 27.75 inches, with a 26.81-inch mount position. To swap with the ’Glide, the crossmember must be moved back 6 inches. The good news is that the driveshaft will not have to be shortened."

Yup. The 200-4R is the same length. I used the same driveshaft with no modifications when I swapped it in for my th350. The mount is quite a bit further back though.
