      Las Vegas hotel

I'm currently looking for a hotel to stay in durring SEMA. Where is the most reasonably priced hotel and semi close to the convention center? I need a room for 2 adults. Thanks for the help and hope to see you all there.

I'm looking also. Don't be too worried about being close to the convention center however, because SEMA is the biggest thing going that week and there are several free shuttles that make trips all day long and go to various large hotels. As long as you are walking distance to one of those hotels, no problem.

I stayed at the Tropicana last year and the shuttle went directly to it. Kind of a run down hotel compared to the others, but it was also cheap.

Check online for the Sahara. They always seem to have the lowest prices there , without being a fleabag hotel. They are very close to the convention center.

Circus-Circus is cheap, but to get the good rates you have to stay across the street from the casino/lobby. I don't care since I'm hardly in the room.

Greek Isle is where the PT dinner is so you may want to check their rates. It's only a 5 minute walk to the convension center.

If you have a car I highly suggest driving to the convension center early and parking in the lot across from Greek as close to the convension center as possible. It's $10/day but you won't have to wait for the busses, which can be a PITA sometimes. I usually get there early and find a place to have breakfast at the Hilton.

      Vegas hotel

Driving is not a problem. I'll be driving down. I checked out a couple of places and I agree the Orleans sound cheap but didn't know if it was a O.K. place or not.

      Orleans

FYI, I booked Orleans today. Limited rooms already. Also, they said they were able to do a courtesy reservation (no charge) until the 18th of October, with no cancelation fee.

      Hotels

There is a Best Western MardiGras Motel two blocks south of the convention center. It's an older place with rooms facing a courtyard and others facing the street.

Stratosphere has some cheap rates, I think it was like $59 a night. I stayed there last year. The SEMA bus shuttle picks you up and drop you off at the hotel. One time, we missed the bus and we took a bike cab to SEMA, We gave the cabbie $5.00.
