I talked to the shop today and they will not finish the console before the weekend. They expect the entire install to be done next week. Just to whet your appetite, The console will have black leather sides and the "top" Flat portion will be made of carbon fiber that matches the Covan's Classic dash panel in the car. The head unit will be in the stock location with the console coming up to envelope it. Below that will be 4 or 5 guages and then a switch panel that will rest just ahead of the shifter. Behind the shifter will be "OH DEAR" cupholders, dont worry they have a sliding cover to hide them. I will try to have the shop send me some pics as they go. Pics as soon as possible. I talked to the shop about making templates and patterns so they could reproduce the console and they said that they would do it.

      Thanks

Very interested in this. Where is the shop located, and what are you facing as far as pricing?

That looks great, I hope mine turns out as well. We have planned for the console to cume up higher on the dash and have the head unit of the steroe incorporated into the console. We'll see if it turns out that way. Thanks for the pics of your ride...we have the same vibe goin' on.

The shop is in Midwest City, Oklahoma. They have a SEMA project for this years convention. They are very highly regarded in the area and do very good work. We will see how the price comes out, but the hard quote I got for all the stereo equipment: head unit, amps, subs, speakers, et al with istallation and build of amp panels, console, and sub mounts was $2200.00.

Castlesmith, are you in MWC or just your console? It would be cool having a few PT guys around OKC to get together with. I am just South of Norman.

Back to your original question, alot of people have used 4th gen consoles with minimal modfication and look good installed.

Here is a custom console I am building for my 68 camaro. Since I am using the covan center dash panel with the 4 gauges I decided to build a console that will allow me to use the a/c vents, CD player, and vintage a/c controls. Also I am going to use the Lokar auto shifter.

Excuse my ugly paintbrush picture, it is just a picture I made up to go by.

Custom Console I made for my 69

I built this custom console for my 69 out of plywood and had it covered by an interior shop. It was a pain in the ass to make but I am very satisfied with the results. It will incorporate 4 Autometer gauges as well.

Wow, like the consoles. How are you guys mounting the console to the floor?
      Thanks,

      69zz3,

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but do you have any more pics of your interior. It looks awesome. Do you know what the shop used to cover your seats and console? is it real leather?

Thanks for the props, the wheels are Centerline Meteors. You know how it is with wheels you can look forever and not know which way to go. I am very satisfied with the way they look, just the right amount of openness to show off the brakes.
