      Fuel Injection Suggestions

      Hey Forum Members,

Newbie here and I'm sure this topic was brought up. Was hoping to get some input from the experience folks.

What is the best EFI system for a 383 stroker, currently running a traditional high rise manifold and carburetor?

I know many options out there. Some more costly than others.

I am looking for added reliability and performance. Aesthetics are secondary.

      Thanks!!

The Holley unit is pretty nice. We installed a FAST unit a couple years back, not so great. Customer service- not so great either.
MSD- works well but requires more work & more parts.
Holley - very seamless design, barely any extra parts.. and it's really simple to set up. I highly recommend the Holley unit. Best part- we have a sale price on them right now.. ;) PM for details.

      Dale,

Which Holley unit are you referring to? The TBI set up or MPI set up?

I read the sticky on this forum and it mentioned TBI units have HP limitations. Not sure how that's possible because it's essentially replacing a traditional carburetor set up.

Both use the same computer. We've only installed the TPI unit, but are close to doing an MPI on a BBC.

Did you see any HP gains or losses with the MPI unit?

We haven't installed the MPI unit yet. MPI systems are more efficient since there is less fuel that sits in the intake plenum. They require larger injectors since you're using only 4, so they tend to "dump" more fuel in comparison.
You'll likely gain MPG given the tunes are somewhat equal, and maybe a little more HP, but it's not going to be a dramatic 35hp difference.

Also, TBI units on high HP applications can tend to lean out the cylinders that are furthest away, again making the MPI a little better in that regard.

The Terminator EFI is only good to 600HP at this time due to limitations of the 4 85pph injectors. MPFI is always a better route when cost is not a factor. Fuel distribution variances, and puddling on the intake walls can almost always be eliminated. I have sold over 35 Holley EFI systems this year, and one of their largest EFI dealers in the US. From Boats, drag cars, pro touring vehicles, and even a corvair - we have covered a lot of ground with Holley EFI. Let me know if you need a price as well. Thanks - Derek
