      pro's picks

a thought i have been wondering about for a couple days.after the kc goodguys show.they have pro's picks, but many of the cars are built by pro car builders to, so how can a pro jugde a pro.is it all in the name of a builder.like foose, boyd, alloway etc that they a jugde another .when the cars are built by pro builders maybe on a smaller scale.it doesn't make sense.anyway just some thinking i was having.good day

Good question.. Im a bit fuzzy on how it all works also.

And the "pro's picks" are more than just professional builders.. it is a grouping of builders, industry insiders and magazine folk.. To get in the "pro's pic" area you have to be reccomended by one of those people.. then those people all vote for the top five and ultimatly for the king of the hill.

At least that is how I grasp it, which very well could be wrong ;)

You mean the Boyd Jr. award at KC since Boyd wasn't even there...It's all a political thing for these awards anyway.

Because boyd JR hates Boyd senior......Boyd jr works for weld wheels, we have his truck now two toning it for SEMA!

Steve at all of the goodguys events I have been to the pros pic area is open to anyone that wants to park there! Pro's picks are given by Boyd to a certain number of cars which he picks! At KC this weekend boyd wasn't there so his number 3 and 4 guys made the picks (which were a bit strange) some of the cars picked were a little off IMO!

I was speaking specificly of Columbus.. and I was pretty sure you had to be "invited" to park in there for consideration for the SMOY..

Like I said, I am fuzzy on it..

I think you are correct about columbus.....The top 5 are selected by the media and builders...were as the the pro's picks are done by Boyd himself!

although this is boyds last year...he has two events left Dallas, Arizona

you can drive right in the pros-pick at colombus also , you do not have to be invited . for either the SMOY or the streetrod of the year

For those of you that happen to see Boyd's pics in KC last weekend, wondered what you thought of my buddies 71 Chevy Shortbed (honest opinion). He had a hell of a time keeping his new coolflex radiator hose on as they didn't rough up the polished "T" before installing. He blew if off (3) times with the last time coming when he pulled in to the Boyd's Pro-pick area. We got that fixed and are heading to Texas this weekend with it.

very nice truck....lots of nice parts! Not a pros pick IMO either...there were 4 or 5 questionable picks at KC, but hey i'm not picking though! good luck at Texas

Boyd wasn't at KC this year to pick the cars.....one of his flunkies was picking!

And about 80% of those cars should just remain in the normal parking area, lol.

Who won the Pro's Pick's at KC?? There were some nice rides there, however I looked at one coast to coast bodied car that was really bad. Lots of dimples in the paint, especially around the edges, along with tons of orange peel in the paint. This type of car makes me wonder why it would be shown in that area or for that matter why the owner would actually want to display it in that area.

BTW, the truck was a cool ride, nice colors.

I thought I took a pic of it, but I believe it was blue/silver and fendered. There were alot of things on the car that were nice, but not nearly nice enough to compete with some of the others. BTW, I liked the Nomad you guys brought, nice ride. There was not much that could compete with the woody, what I really nice ride. Of course, there probably were not very many that had the type of money in them that the woody had. Steve Cook's Camaro was very nice also, almost as nice as the yellow and white '55 he had. If you look in the engine compartment at the turbo mounts, they were touching the side panels, can this one be driven. I guess you would not see that much movement from solid motor mounts, if equipped.

Thanks for the compliment..... The woody is awesome and will hands down win the Custom car of the year! To be honest I was dissapointed in the cook camaro as far as fit and finish compared to tha 55'! Not dogging the camaro it ust wasn't as nice as some of his other cars, I didn't notice the superchargers hitting the fenderwells!
