      Pro-Touring Corvair

I have always wanted a pro-touring machine and since my '63 Corvair is getting close to the end for the engine, I think it is time for a serious redux. My plan at the moment is a sbc front engine, rear wheel drive set-up with a rear mounted radiator with eletric fans to push/pull air. At the same time I will switch to front disc/rear drum 5-lug brakes with custom front and rear suspension to remove the swing arm. I have seen a lot of front engine EM Corvairs but almost all of them look like a gasser with its nose stuck in the air. This is NOT want I am aiming at. Has anyone seen one done tastefully in the Pro-Touring style?

What you need is the suspension and drivetrain from a 2005 or newer 911 turbo, aka 997. This will have a AWD system and such. Now that would be sick.

That would be an amazing setup. I have talked to some people on corvaircenter.com and I am liking the idea of using a g-body chasis and sectioning the corvair body over it. I am going to post a quick sketch as soon as I get near a scanner.

I know of a corvair that was just finished and is in some testing right now. Car should be badass when all dialed in.

Welcome - I'd go with a Ls Motor to save weight on the front end

I've seen a mid engine Corvair before, it was awesome. Is that something you'd consider over front engine?

I did consider a mid-engine since they are pretty common as far as V8 corvairs go. The reason I don't want a mid-engine is a) The degree of difficulty for service and b) one of my goals is to keep the back seat.
