There are several threads on here about this. You'll need to swap input shafts, front plate, and bellhousing. The mount is in a different spot so any crossmember you get will need to be modified accordingly. I think that's about it. If you can get it for under 1500 with low miles it might be worth it in my opinion, but there will likely be $500 in parts to swap it over .

      I've got a Viper T56 in my '68 Camaro.

I swapped the input shaft for an LS1 input.

The Viper transmission locates the hydraulic slave cylinder connections in the same place as the LS1 T56, but the mounting holes are clocked differently. Rather than changing front plates (the slave cylinder mounting holes being the only reason to do so), I got a Viper slave cylinder and swapped the input side for an input from an old LS1 slave cylinder.

While the Viper bell won't work on an LSx engine, I planned on using an SFI rated bellhousing so that wasn't a biggie.

I did end up cutting up and rewelding a very pretty crossmember, because of the much lower mounting pad on the Viper T56.

I don't get the need to swap inputs? My bellhousing from QuickTime says its for an LS1/Viper T56.

Have you contacted QuickTime to see what they mean when they say it's for an LS1/Viper T56?

Among other things the Viper T56 input shaft is about 1/2" longer than that of an LS1 T56, and requires a larger ID pilot bearing.

No I havent, I have heard of guys cutting a little off the tip of the shaft though. I did not need to with my setup though. Just wondering why the need to swap shafts.

The guy has the trans for sale for 500 would it be worth buying it and doing what's needed to mate it to my ls3 or just go with my original plan of a magnum?

It's worth it. Buy it, pull the input shaft off. Send it to a machine shop and machine it down to an ls1 input length. Buy a viper slave cylinder and ls1 bellhousing and that's it. I've done plenty of these and works perfect.
