      77 Firebird

      Hello,

I have a 1977 firebird that I am changing into a PT car. I have had this car since 1987, it is my first car. I have a couple questions, we'll I am sure it will amount to a lot more but here it goes. I have already bought the ridetech level 2 coilover system and 14" wildwood front brakes. I would like to put the billet 18" snow flakes that year one has or bonspeed honeycombs Like the superchicken. Now here is the rest of my plans, a 9" rear end and DSE min tub kit. Does anyone here have that combo? I need to know the back space front and rear to run the 285/35/18's up front and the 335/30/18's on the back and the width of the differential. I like the stance and performance of the super chicken car, unreal! If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

      Thank you

      Scott

I'm running (almost) the same setup in a '73. 9 in narrowed strange rear, DSE mini tub (with leafs), 11.5 x19 rear wheels and 325s in the back. I don't know off hand the backspacing or how much we narrowed the rear. I will look and find out for you. I did the mini tub (most of it) and the shop that finished the car for me had a wheel measuring machine that you mount your tires on to get the backspacing measurements. The rear right tire is BARELY touching the inner fender when I drive it hard. I think the wheel offset is right but I should have cut just a few mm more out of the "frame rail" when doing the mini tub. I'll have to run a small spacer to keep it from happening. I would air on the- cut a little more side when doing the mini tub cause once it's finished there's no going back. A 335 is possible but it will be a tight fit and your measurements will have to be dead on.

Make sure you get as big of a tire as you can fit in the front bc if you have a huge tire n the back and skinnies up front the car will push more n the corners.

I'll check on my specs and get back w you...
