      G-link shock settings needed please

      My 68 Camaro is just about ready to put on the road and I was hoping someone could give me a setting. I have the G-link with double adjustable coilovers and would like to know what someone has theirs set to for spirited street driving, no auto cross stuff at this point. I realize each car and driver is different but this would be a very good starting point for me and one I could adjust from instead of ground zero settings.

      1968 Camaro Crossram EFI 385, TKO 600 fully REMed. 594 hp/576 tq-ft. ATX spindles, Speedtech control arms, Chassis Works G-Link on 12 bolt with REMed gears, Chassis Works mini tubs, 245/40-17 front, 335/35-17 rear.

      Whenever someone has a question about one of our products it's always best to contact us directly. We have tech guys on the phone six days a week at 800-722-2269 to take your call. Yours is actually a fairly broad question. The simple answer is that I would suggest starting at 6 Bump/Compression and 5 Rebound/Extension.

      For a longer, more fine tuned answer we need some more information. We to know what spring rate you have, what transmission, what engine, how large is the fuel cell, where is the battery, what tires will be on the car, and that's just to start.

      In the end, it's still going to be up to you to fine tune the shock for your needs. The beauty of the VariShock QuickSet 2 is that it's a fairly simple process. Get in the car and drive it a couple miles then get out and make a single-click change to ONE knob. It doesn't matter which knob or which direction. Just make the change and drive the car some more. Pay attention to the difference. If you like the change, keep going that direction, if you don't, go the other direction. Keep a note pad handy to track the changes and record your feedback for future reference.

      Good advice. That`s very close to the baseline setting we recommend. We flip the numbers, 5 compression and 6 rebound. Every car and every driver will have their preferences but this is a very good area to start at. Carl, great call on Engineer In Your Pocket. What a handy little resource!
