      Well after having a local powdercoater quote me 175 per wheel to powder the centers black I decided I'd try the thing all the import guys rage about: Plastidip!

      I was a little hesitant to try this on brand new wheels, but a neighbor who does it told me it's great and I had nothing to worry about. I found if you use masking tape you have to pull the tape very soon after applying the dip and that can be quite troublesome since the dip wants multiple coats so it can remove easy. If a coat sets up before you remove the tape it won't work. I thought I'd share how I did my wheels..

      This is what the wheel looked like. I like the polished look but it's hard to maintain.

      First I sprayed multiple coats of plastidip. Each wheel used 1.5 cans. The more you add the easier it is to remove.

      Then I lightly cut around the center section.

      Then I started to peel away the dip on the outside portion of the wheel.
