Hey guys, I'm in Charlotte, NC for about 8 weeks and looking for things to do (particularly on the weekends) pro-touring, or otherwise. My 15-year old son is with me. Any suggestions?

NASCAR Museum. There are also a ton of race shops in the area like Hendrick, Roush, etc. On a side note, most of the NASCAR teams also operate used parts stores where you can buy previously raced parts for pennies on the dollar.

Depends on what you wanna do but here is a suggestion.http://ihra.com/schedules/nitro-jam/...ring-nationals

This event is held at a long in the tooth NC track that is dear to my heart and I know I'll wanna be there and we could tour up there together with our sons if you want. I know a back road way 2 lanes the whole way after we exit Charlotte's limits. The route go's thorgh wildlife refuge and NC Senic Byways where seldom there is another car in sections. The Nitro Jam Series is great I think although it's not really world class it is killer cheap fun. I'll come up with lot of other options depending on what you like. Great to hear from you and welcome to Charlotte!

Central Carolina Region SCCA has a few auto X events in the next 8 weeks:

Also, Detroit Speed is just north of Charlotte in Mooresville.

Check out RK Motors and Streetside Classics, great selection of cool muscle cars to look at.

You can head to lake lure and past.. carve up the roads all the way to TN...

Go across deals gap. 318 turns in 11 miles into TN to Newport and come back across the mountain through hot springs to Asheville up the blue ridge parkway and back home... (From Boone or VA)

You would need to spend the night somewhere but some awesome roads.. I ride motorcycles through there. A couple times a year...

If a road trip like that seems cool let me know and I'll take a minute and jot down a couple routes...

I highly recommend taking an all day trip through the Blue Ridge Parkway. Rent a Porsche if you can. Also close to the Tennessee border about an hour west of Asheville is Lake James. Beautiful state, we want to retire there some day, I'm jealous of you man!!

Power Tour for sure! Also, the local NASA chapter is having a few HPD's in the next couple months down at Kershaw at Carolina Motorsports Park (where they filmed R U Faster than a Redneck).
