      GMPP 454 Kit?

      Hi all,

Looks like Jegs and GM have a new kit available for the LSX454.

      http://www.jegs.com/i/Chevrolet-Perf...ductId=2675108

Can someone help me understand what else is needed to make this engine turn-key?

From what I can tell, it's only missing the front assembly.

Thanks, Dale. Have you used these kits before? Also, can you be more specific on "all that jazz" :-)

I'm not an engine builder, but I can put stuff together. I'm just wondering if this kit would allow me to build a turn-key 454. I don't want to deal with tuning and other stuff.

I was just referring to the transmission & such.

You'll need to fine-tune it after its running, but this kit will give you a baseline to start from and at least get it running.
What are you putting this into? Most people go with other oil pan kits, since the GMPP has a pretty deep sump (ground clearance)

I don't see an accessory drive with that kit.

The oil pan is a throw away, since it hangs too low. The rest looks good.

      Just realized this is an 8-bolt crank - so that's a no-go since I'm using a T-56 6sp.

What a hassle it is to get all of these things in order!

Why no go? Just get any clutch designed for a LSA engine and use that with the T56. A stock LSA has a dual disk clutch.

Do they offer it with a flywheel for the LSA engine? If so, you're good to go...If not, there are a ton of excellent clutch options, and personally I would not over look the stock LSA clutch. It seems a little odd to base an engine choice based on the kind of clutch you want to run.

American Powertrain also offers an 8-bolt Science Friction flywheel that lets you adapt a regular 11" clutch to it--although it does sound as though you have your clutch selected. But as Dale pointed out, you're in luck, if you have your heart set on a McLeod, they make a setup for this flywheel. Sounds like you will be sitting pretty!

      Hi all,

Just an update here. I decided to go with GMPP LSX454. It's an 8-bolt crank, and luckily McLeod had an RXT clutch kit to make it work with my T-56. McLeod was nice enough to swap out my existing clutch kit and get me what I needed.
