      Stiffer front springs

Right now I'm running Moog 5536 springs in the front along with 2" drop spindles. It's at a decent height but I rub against the inner fender wells when going over some bumps. The springs are also a little soft, so I'm looking for some new springs with a higher spring rate, maybe bring the ride height up just a tad.

The 5536 spring rate is 487 lb/in, 15.06" tall unloaded (website says 11" install height, not sure if that's for a big block or small block. I'm running a small block with iron heads.)

Hotchkis sport springs have both 1" and 2" drops, I'm assuming the 1" would be close to what I'm wanting? Can't find the actual height of the springs so it's hard to be sure. They have small and big block options, 512 lb/in and 580 lb/in respectively. 512 lb/in seems like it might not be quite enough of a difference compared to what I have now. Thoughts?

This is my daily driver but I'm young so I don't mind having a bumpy ride if it'll handle better and be more fun on the autocross.

The hotchkis big block springs in the front of the 72 with a 454 ride really nice. I forget whats in the back but its a much higher rate than hotchkis, as we use the el camino as a truck. We take the truck on long hunting trips and it is very comfortable.

Id do the one inch small block springs in your case, I think youd be happy.

Keep in mind that Hotchkis and the other spring manufacturers consider drop to be the difference from "Stock" ride height. Many find the drop they actually get is less than they expected. It's a common problem. But advice from people who have done the spring swap, like Rifleman, should help. I installed the 2" drop Hotchkis on my 68 Firebird and ended up cutting the springs for another inch drop. Your El Camino looks awesome btw.

      Thanks!

I think I'm going to hold off on changing things up for now. I'll have a few chances to autocross it this summer and figure out what I need better.
