I will look today , its from a 95 motor . That diagram won't work because my plug has just 1 wire on it , not two .

Look at where the plug goes. There should be 2 pins but only one wire coming out. What pin is the wire connected to?

      is it this? http://images.whisystems.com/smartpa.../21056_BAC.jpg

if that is it it has the PLFS plug. This is the diagram you need.

You can get a resistor at Radio shack. They are a $1.30. And the connector with leads from Summit. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aww-500539/overview/

ok simple answer for the question.
a total of 2 wires coming off the alternator.... and one that has a nut.
the one with the nut will go to the battery.
the other is a plug has a single wire, this one should go to a hot in run position of the ignition switch.
how to check this, with the wire in question disconnected, see if the alt. will charge, (it should not be charging)
connect the wire in question to the positive on the battery, the alternator should be charging.
if this is correct then you know that wire goes.
