      Ignition switch continuity test

OK So I dont claim to be an electrical expert but I tinker here and there with certain aspects of it..(I know electricians are going to say electrical work is NOT a hobby but...) Anyways I think I have a problem with my ignition switch so I figured before going through all of the info on line about putting leads on starters etc.. I would start with a simple continuity test at the switch itself. Only problem is I want to know what turns on and off with each position of the switch. Can someone tell me which terminals should read on each turn of the key? I am always putting one contact on the battery part of the switch since I assume everything to do with the switch starts there? I am posting what I think should happen but can someone confirm this for me? Thanks in advance! Oh BTW what is prompting me to do this is that the car will not shut off when the car goes into the off position and the previous owner has installed a kill switch to the HEI ignition in order to shut the car off. Also the "GEN" LIGHT GOES ON constantly when the key is placed in the ignition in the "off" position....

I am using a MULTIMETER set at the OHM setting. Each reading is signaling a beep and a reading of 0.0 on each test.. Also this is an ignition switch on a 66 Nova I have provided a picture of it below.

OFF POSTION: Red probe from meter on Battery(on switch) Nothing lights the meter up

ON POSITION: Red probe from meter on Battery(on switch) Continuity with ACCESSORY, IGNITION ONLY

ACC POSITION: Red probe from meter on Battery (on switch) Continuity with ACCESSORY ONLY

START(CRANK) POSITION Red Probe from meter on Battery(on switch) Continuity with IGNITION AND SOLENOID ONLY

So is this right? Please let me know if it is not and what else could cause this problem. Thanks again!!
